Erienne Romaine: The Scenic Route

Erienne came into this world seeming to know just what she is here to do. She started singing Frank Sinatra tunes at age two, and has continued to joyfully immerse herself in music ever since. She sat in at Denver’s famous El Chapultepec with Denver’s equally famous saxophonist Billy Tolles when she was three, which turned into an annual Christmas event. She was accepted to the Denver School of the Arts at age 10, and began singing in their fantastic vocal program. Ever seeking to know more, she started studying jazz piano as well as theory, and in 2002 she started playing piano at the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts.

In July, as Erienne was rehearsing for her first wedding gig, she collapsed and had a seizure. It was later revealed that she had a hemorrhage in her brain, caused by a ruptured vein in what is called an “arteriovenous malformation.” With no health insurance, estimate costs for required medical procedures are $500,000. Incredible kindness and generosity from family, friends, and the medical community have enabled them to begin to make deposits and payments, and to schedule the procedures. The need is still great.
