Dec 5, 02:48 PMAs Congress debates how to avoid the looming “fiscal cliff,” tax incentives for charitable contributions hang in the balance. Policymakers are considering a wide range of proposals to reduce the tax incentive for charitable giving – including capping the dollar amount allowable for all itemized tax deductions, or reducing the rate of deductibility – in an effort to generate new federal revenue. This would impact the tax deduction for charitable giving.
Your participation is needed to help Congress understand that limiting the charitable deduction would harm the arts in many ways. Please CLICK HERE to contact your Members of Congress today<> to urge them to preserve charitable giving incentives as the tax reform debates continue. Tell them how charitable contributions support the unique, essential services your orchestra provides in your community.
Thank you for your participation!

Jun 4, 09:08 AMThe idea is to create a pilot instrumental music program which could be used as a model for the entire country of Cambodia and perhaps even other Southeast Asian nations. There are currently no school band programs in the entire country of Cambodia, a country that just a couple of decades ago was devastated by what has been called “the killing fields”. Many of the students at the Logos School are orphans or “street” kids. I shared with Steven that I would try to get with the Denver Musicians Association to collect band instruments. Feb 15, 08:48 AMA new NEA report, Artists in the Workforce, details how Artists represent 1.4 percent of the U.S. labor force and constitute one of the largest classes of workers in the nation.
“The time has come to insist on an obvious but overlooked fact — artists are workers. They make things and perform services, just like other workers, and these goods and services have value — not merely in lofty spiritual terms but also in dollars and cents. Without denying the higher purposes of the artistic vocation, this report shows that artists play an important role in America’s cultural vitality and economic prosperity.”
