25th Anniversary Rafael Méndez Brass Institute August 1-7, 2010

Honoring the legendary trumpet virtuoso Rafael Méndez (1906-1981), the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute is the world’s leading performance and career development seminar for brass musicians, educators and students. Participants perform in brass ensembles and master classes coached by some of the foremost brass artists nationwide. Daily career seminars are designed to assist with auditioning techniques, ensemble organization and administration, and creating innovative ways to market brass music performances.

SCHOLARSHIPS – Thank you to Dr. Rafael G. Méndez Jr. & Dr. Robert Méndez whose very generous donation have made tuition
scholarships available. These $465 scholarships shall be awarded to qualified applicants on a first-come basis. Enrollment is limited to 165
participants. Full tuition is $630 and includes daily communal lunches (does not include a non-refundable $100 application fee).
50 non-scholarship auditors (non-participant) positions are available. Auditor tuition is $315 and includes daily communal lunches.
Accommodations are not included in the tuition costs.
HOUSING – University of Denver air-conditioned dorm rooms with very reasonable rates are 2 blocks distance to the School of Music. Several
hotels are also near. Accommodations information will be provided upon acceptance. See http://MendezBrassInstitute.com.
EXHIBITS – Publishers, music companies, and instrument manufacturers will display instruments & accessories.
TO APPLY – Apply online or call 303-877-1383 by May 31, 2010, and complete payment for application and scholarship reservation fees. Your
reference will be contacted to determine acceptability and scholarship. Admit digital audio files (emailed or URL) in lieu of reference.
Applicants will be notified within 2 weeks of application of acceptance.
A non-refundable $100 application fee is required for application to be processed. A $165 scholarship reservation fee is also required if
you are applying for a scholarship. If awarded scholarship, the reservation fee serves as tuition balance.
CANCELLATIONS by June 1, receive a refund of scholarship reservation fee payments. Applicants not receiving scholarship also receive a
refund of scholarship reservation fee payments, or may apply the payment towards tuition costs.
