DMA has endorsed the Employee Free Choice Act – now call Senator Bennet

Apr 16, 11:24 AM

The Denver Musicians Association has endorsed the Employee Free Choice Act, as evidenced by a unanimous vote of support at our March 30 membership meeting. Now, Senators have a simple choice to make about the Employee Free Choice Act. Will they side with your and all America’s workers, or will they side with Big Business? Sen. Michael Bennet may have just recently joined the U.S. Senate, but that does not mean he can sit quietly by on the tough issues. Colorado’s working families can’t get ahead when the system is rigged against them. It is critical that Sen. Bennet take a position and side with America’s workers in supporting the Employee Free Choice Act. Big Business has lobbied him relentlessly, and it’s clearly having an impact. We need to fight back to make sure Sen. Bennet sides with working families, not corporate CEOs. Call one of Sen. Bennet’s offices in Colorado right now. Tell him to side with working families and support the Employee Free Choice Act. Once you’ve called, send us an e-mail at mlaitin@aflcio.org and tell us what you learned.

The three fundamental principles that underlie our support for the Employee Free Choice Act are: * Workers must have a real choice to form a union and bargain for a better life, free from employer intimidation. * Companies cannot be allowed to delay agreement on a first contract endlessly and stall out the choice of the majority of their workers. * There must be real penalties for violating the law—companies must be held accountable.
