2009 Residency Season at the Artists' Enclave at I-Park
Nov 13, 10:38 AMApplication Deadline: January 5, 2009 (postmark date)
I-Park announces its ninth season hosting The Artists’ Enclave. Artists’ residencies, self-directed/project oriented, will be offered from May through November 2009, with possible off-season sessions in April and December. Most sessions are four weeks in duration. Residencies will be offered to visual (including digital) artists, music composers, environmental artists, landscape and garden designers, creative writers and architects. Work samples will be evaluated through a competitive, juried process.
There is a $25 application processing fee required and artists are responsible for their own transportation to and from the area. They also provide for their own food and work materials. The facility is otherwise offered at no cost to accepted artists.
I-Park is a 450-acre natural woodland retreat in rural East Haddam, Connecticut.
Accommodations include comfortable private living quarters in an 1850’s era farmhouse, shared bathroom facilities and a private studio on the grounds. An electric kiln, wireless internet and library facilities are provided.
Special Notice to Music Composers
The application deadline for music composers is January 17, 2009. The music studio, in addition to an acoustic piano, has a selection of digital keyboards as well as a growing collection of peripheral devices and software for recording, sequencing and sound manipulation. We have also begun to collect percussion and other instruments for use by our composers.
International applicants welcome. To defray the cost of travel, three $1,000 grants will be offered in 2009 to international artists whose work is held in particularly high regard by the selection committees (details on the website).

Also, I-Park is hosting a special environmental art program in late summer/early autumn 2009. Details of this program will be announced separately in early November (application deadline: February 16, 2009).
