Organization description: Youth Orchestras of the Rockies Concert Orchestra is YOR’s intermediate group, with membership determined by audition. Concert Orchestra gives students an opportunity for musical growth between early string ensembles and full symphonic literature. Students have a chance to develop musicianship and leadership skills. In addition to the full orchestra, each member participates in a Prelude Chamber Ensemble (small groups of 3 to 5 players) with individual coaching, which further strengthens their musical abilities.

The YOR originated as the Larimer Youth Festival Orchestra in 1995 to provide the young musicians of the northern Front Range of Colorado with an enrichment opportunity to experience the rigors of professional music-making in an educational setting. Through the study and performance of orchestral music, the YOR seek to challenge and nurture young musicians to strive for excellence, to explore their role in humanity, and to contribute beauty to the community.
