For nearly two decades, Josie Quick and Perpetual Motion have produced some of the most eclectic music in today’s scene. A virtuoso in jazz, blues, bluegrass, and classical violin, Josie and her musical stylings can be heard on numerous independent Colorado artist recordings. Her overwhelming variety and unique style has awarded her many opportunities along the musical spectrum.
Denver’s Julia Hays has traveled the country with her skilled and diverse musical palette. She has performed Wagnerian opera in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Western swing at Los Angeles’ Gene Autrey Museum of History and Art, and Southern-style blues in Kerrville, Texas. Currently, she can be seen among many of Denver’s hotspots throwing down straight-ahead jazz arrangements with her trio.
New York’s Lionel Young’s resume reads like a who’s-who in the music industry. Picking up the violin at the tender age of six, Lionel has yet to put it down. He has shared the stage with the likes of Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Paige/Robert Plant, as well as Doc Severenson, Linda Ronstadt, and Billy Taylor. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Opera-Ballet Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra, with whom he toured Japan, Taiwan, and Korea during the 1988 Summer Olympic Music Festival. His multi-genre and award-winning music has taken him all over the world. Luckily, we have him here and now in Denver.
The Rocky Mountain Violin Summit also welcomes accomplished musicians Tom Carleno on guitar, drummer Rob Chamberlin, and bassist Mary Stribling.
