Lance Bendiksen is no stranger to the musicianís life. As a young man he traveled the country writing music and performing. Eventually he began a career as a successful music producer based in Denver, where he founded Bendiksen Productions. He recently received platinum and gold Auroras for his score of the 2005 feature documentary, The Greatest Good. The film was produced by the U.S. Forest Service to commemorate its 100th birthday. CBS Sunday Morningís Charles Osgood narrates the film. Bendiksen won a regional Emmy and a Telly earlier in his career for previous projects.
Bendiksenís film score provides original orchestral compositions as well as roots music from the early 20th century. The music underscores the creation, development and highly emotional political controversy during the formation of the Forest Service, when founding fathers, Gifford Pinchot and Aldo Leopold, sought to preserve and protect our countryís wild lands in 1905. The soundtrack also features elegant Americana music recorded in Colorado with a host of local talent including the Daniel Pearl Award-winning violinist, Kailin Yong. ìIt was such an honor to be associated with this project, and to be recognized by my industry makes it even more rewarding,î said Bendiksen. ìOne of the best parts of the job was recording at Skywalker Ranch in California with co-conductors Tom Jensen and Pete Anthony. We worked together in an amazing setting with the Skywalker Symphony to record the orchestral pieces.î Anthony is known for his work in the films Spiderman and Peter Pan. Jensen is a Denver-based conductor for the Junior Symphony Guild and former conductor of the Colorado Ballet. He provided consulting to Bendiksen on instrumentation and studio work locally.
