The members of the Frontera String Quartet all received degrees from the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, which is where they met. All of the members are professional musicians who perform and teach full time. They have played together in various combinations since their school days, but came together and formed the Frontera in 1994.
Josie Quick, violinist
Josie Quick received her Bachelor of Music in violin performance in 1987. She currently performs with the original jazz ensemble Perpetual Motion, which has recorded three CDs that have received critical and popular acclaim. She is an instructor at the Swallow Hill Music Association, where she teaches Folk Orchestra and Blues Fiddle classes. She has worked with the Boulder Philharmonic, the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Jefferson Symphony. Josie teaches a large studio of private students.
Lisa Appleton, violinist
Lisa received her Bachelor of Music Education. Since 1990 she has performed throughout the Rocky Mountain region in the violin and cello duo ìApples and Honeyî. Lisa is a member of the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra. She is the string specialist of St. Maryís Academy and co-conductor for the Littleton Youth Orchestra.
Katie Fouse, violist
Katie earned her Bachelorís of Music in viola performance and her Masterís Degree in Suzuki pedagogy from the University of Denver. She has performed with the Colorado Springs Symphony, Mercury Ensemble and the Colorado Symphony orchestras, in addition to numerous string quartets. She is a highly acclaimed instructor in the Suzuki method, and has been teaching for the past eighteen years.
Jennifer Fouse, cellist
Jennifer received her Masterís degree in music performance from the University of Denver and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College. She has performed with the Colorado Springs Symphony, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, and the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. She currently is a member of the Mercury Ensemble. Aside from a busy performing schedule, Jennifer teaches a large class of cello students.
