Doug has been making his living for the last 35 years as a freelance pianist in a variety of styles. Specializing in the Jazz idiom, he has performed with many top players in the field both locally and internationally. From pianist in the Navy Band (1971-75), to touring the world with the Lettermen (1980-83), to backing up Jazz greats at Festivals and clubs all along the way, he has always brought his sensitive and skilled musical talents to whatever the occasion has called for.
Doug currently performs with the "Denver Jazz Quartet" which was a headliner act at the Queenstown Jazz Festival in New Zealand in October of 2003. The quartet is availabe for concerts and private functions (please check our web site on the DMA page). He is also an integral member of PoeJazz (also on the DMA page), consisting of Piano, Bass and Poet. PoeJazz is a very cool and ecclectic group which performs concerts both for adults and is active in the Young Audiences Org., playing for all levels of school children. Doug is also on the faculty of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, helping High School Students learn about working together in combos settings.
